Top vacancies of the week in defence tech

This week, the attention of Ukraine’s defence tech ecosystem was divided between domestic defence procurement issues and personnel changes in key government offices, and the two-day DALO Industry Days 2026 exhibition in Denmark. The event brought together a significant number of Ukrainian manufacturers, although fewer than last year.

Defender Media closely followed the developments and covered the key news from Herning. Companies that stood out with the most interesting updates during the week traditionally made it into Defender Media’s jobs digest.

Ukrainian TAF Industries and Danish Upteko signed a memorandum on establishing a joint venture in Denmark. The company traditionally has many offers, nearly fifty, which can be reviewed on the official website.

Similar intentions were announced by Airlogix together with Finnish technology company Innokas. The Finnish side will provide localisation and scaling of production, whilst key technologies will remain Ukrainian. Airlogix, meanwhile, offers more than one hundred employment opportunities for a variety of positions.

Ratel Robotics presented at DALO an updated strike modification of the Ratel H ground robotic system with a turret for a 12.7 mm machine gun. Currently, the company is seeking instructors for unmanned ground vehicle systems, a head of production, and candidates for other positions.

“Wild Hornets”, whose Sting interceptor set a new record for the altitude of engagement of Russian UAVs, has more than 15 open vacancies. All of them are available on the manufacturer’s website via the link.

The Centre for Innovation and Development of Defence Technologies of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine is inviting IT specialists to join the team that creates technological advantage for Ukraine on the battlefield. Sloboda Studio is looking for a Software Engineer (UAV Autonomy) to help develop its MilTech division.

Software Engineer (UAV Autonomy)

We are looking for a Middle–Senior Software Engineer to work on an innovative DefenseTech product from a Ukrainian startup. You will take part in developing software for autonomous systems, working in a small team with a high level of impact on the product.

Responsibilities:

Develop real-time software and flight algorithms for autonomous UAV operation.
Build and improve modules for interfacing with the ArduPilot autopilot via MAVLink and related stacks.
Integrate navigation sensors, flight controllers, and vision-based sensors (GPS, IMU, barometer, compass).
Develop in-flight decision-making logic, autonomous navigation, and guidance/interception algorithms.
Integrate computer vision and automatic targeting systems with the core flight logic.
Test software in simulators and during real-world flight trials.
Optimize software for low-latency performance on Embedded Linux.
Work autonomously in an Agile format within an early-stage startup environment.

Qualifications:

Experience: Middle / Senior level (candidates with varying levels of experience will be considered, depending on hands-on background).
Core stack: Strong proficiency in C++, with experience developing for Embedded Linux.
Domain expertise: Experience developing software for UAVs, robotics, or autonomous systems, including work with ArduPilot or similar platforms.
Key knowledge: Understanding of navigation principles, flight control, state estimation, and multithreaded application development.
Nice to have:
- Experience with OpenCV, Computer Vision, Visual Odometry, or SLAM.
- Knowledge of MAVLink, MAVSDK, or DroneKit.
- Understanding of aerial target guidance and interception system principles.
Soft skills: Autonomy, results-orientation, adaptability, and readiness to work within a startup’s flexible processes.
English level: Intermediate / Professional Working Proficiency (for working with technical documentation).

Location & Logistics:

Location: Kyiv, Ukraine (hybrid format, on-site work preferred).
Time zone: Kyiv / CET (40 hours/week; part-time start possible).
Travel: Participation in test flights at testing grounds as needed.
