Ukraine and Germany have reached an agreement on the joint production of Ukrainian Bars jet-powered strike drones to meet the needs of the Ukrainian Defence Forces. The document was signed by Ukraine’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Andrii Sybiha, and Germany’s Minister of Defence, Boris Pistorius.

According to Sybiha, the agreement is the result of collaborative efforts by the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine and the German Federal Ministry of Defence within the framework of the Build with Ukraine initiative, which facilitates the export of Ukrainian defence technologies and the establishment of production lines abroad.

During the first phase of the project, the German side will finance the manufacturing of the drones, and all completed systems will be deployed to units of the Ukrainian Defence Forces.

Bars is a Ukrainian jet-powered strike drone that has already been deployed to strike military targets on Russian territory. The drone is constructed from composite materials and is powered by a jet engine mounted above the fuselage. While its technical specifications remain classified, available information indicates that the Bars has an operational range of approximately 700–800 km.

The existence of the Bars jet-powered drone first became public in the spring of 2025, when it was reported to already be in serial production. Later, a BBC source confirmed that the Bars is a privately developed Ukrainian system that has been used to hit Russian military targets, including facilities in Moscow.
