Ukrainian defence tech startup Forland Systems, which develops and manufactures UGVs in cooperation with the Achilles unmanned systems brigade, has raised investment from UK venture platform Grenadyr. Its co-founders, Tomasz Wozniak and Ashley Hughes, shared this with Defender Media.

The investment amount and other terms of the deal were not disclosed. At the same time, Grenadyr said it has so far closed seven deals, with individual cheques ranging from $350,000 to $1.3 million. Five of the seven investments went to Ukrainian defence tech startups, while the other two went to UK projects working closely with Ukraine.

Forland Systems is focused on the development of next-generation unmanned ground platforms for logistics, inspection, and mission-support applications. The company’s development is known to feature a modular architecture and a design that allows the drone to operate in challenging conditions. The team is currently keeping photos and other details of the development under wraps.

Forland Systems says Grenadyr is not only providing financial support for its next-generation UGV project but also has a good understanding of the challenges involved and works closely with the team to address them. This includes cooperation with the UK ecosystem on manufacturing issues, sourcing components and other matters.
