Trypillian, a new British-Ukrainian defence tech startup producing deep strike solutions, has received $5 million in funding from a former UK government minister Brooks Newmark, according to a press release obtained by Defender Media.

About Trypillian

Trypillian is a British-Ukrainian defence tech startup founded by a team of Ukrainian and British veterans and military experts in 2024. It focuses on producing field-tested, combat-ready battlefield technology, including deep strike capabilities and battlefield communications platforms, along with other combat-ready systems aimed at reducing risk to personnel and delivering tactical advantage on the front lines.

Trypillian is headquartered between London and Kyiv. The team in Ukraine is almost entirely comprised of war veterans. The company is led by Ivan Matveichenko, a co-founder, CEO, and former soldier, who fought the battles in Bakhmut and Soledar. “Most of us have seen the war, so we work together to make things that protect Ukraine and save lives doing so,” says Ivan.

About Brooks Newmark

Brooks Newmark previously served as the UK Minister for Civil Society and member of UK parliament. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion he has been supporting Ukraine through his humanitarian mission Angels for Ukraine. Having spent most of the past three years in the country, Newmark has evacuated over 35,000 Ukrainian civilians from the frontlines. In March 2025, the BBC reported that Newmark was moving to Ukraine to fully dedicate himself to charitable work.

Now, Newmark is backing Ukraine’s battlefield innovation through venture investment, continuing to showcase his alignment. “Ukraine doesn’t need empty promises. It needs long-term, committed partners. And firms, like Trypillian, are an important part of not only Ukraine’s future, but the world’s,” says Newmark.
