The Finnish-Ukrainian investment company Double Tap Investment has closed the first round of funding for Ukrainian drone developer Black Forest Systems and is now moving on to the second. The amount of the deal was not disclosed, but the average fund check ranges from $100,000 to $300,000.

Black Forest Systems has been working on the project for over six months and has already invested more than $100,000. The team has 15 employees, a legal structure, a completed first product, and is ready to scale.

The startup’s first product is a reconnaissance and strike drone for infantry support called Vyrok, designed to eliminate the enemy during an assault or defence. Its peculiarity is that it can be operated by an infantryman with basic technical skills.

“In practice, this is a DJI Mavic-type drone with a remote control and a simple graphical user interface, a digital camera, secure communication, an integrated warhead with a security system, and other features,” the press release says.

The startup develops key security and control elements independently, while some algorithms are created in cooperation with other developers. The drone is currently at the stage of military experimental implementation.

According to Oleksandr Davydenko, founder and CEO of Black Forest Systems, the startup has many open positions.
