The Kaban remote vehicle control system, engineered to convert manned vehicles into uncrewed ground platforms, has been delivered to three units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Ukrainian company Drone Fight Group, which developed the system, told Defender Media that it has been supplied to the 3rd Army Corps, the 429th Achilles Unmanned Systems Regiment and the 49th Brigade.

The Kaban architecture integrates onto host vehicles without structural modification and remains compatible with various vehicle models. The system enables seamless toggling between remote-piloted mode and direct manual operation.

For navigation, operators utilise a digital mapping interface to plot waypoints and set target markers. To counter GPS spoofing, the system supports manual navigation overrides alongside predictive trajectory modelling. In the event of control link disruption, an automatic fail-safe mechanism brings the vehicle to a complete stop.

Starlink serves as the primary communications bearer, complemented by analogue video links and direct radio frequency control. When operational parameters require, platforms can be fitted with thermal imaging camera payloads.

Additionally, Kaban provides two-way voice transmission along with remote management of driving lights, infrared illuminators, and searchlights. The system ingests real-time data from the vehicle’s onboard computer, while optional mission modules include net launchers and UAV launch pads.

Developed with backing from the Brave1 defence tech cluster, Kaban has undergone combat deployment and has been continuously iterated on by operator feedback from front-line units.
