Alta Ares has appointed a CEO of its Ukrainian office, Drone Space Labs has presented the “Zmiy” interceptor, 3DTech has presented the HYDRA KHYZHAK REBOFF complex, and Wild Hornets have summed up the results of their air defence unit’s work. All these companies and their peers across the industry continue to look for new talent.

French deftech startup Alta Ares has appointed a CEO of its Ukrainian office. The role has gone to Anton Drobovych – former head of the Ukrainian Institute of National Remembrance, a candidate of philosophical sciences and a veteran. At the same time, Alta Ares is looking for a Strategic Operations Coordinator for a full-time position in Kyiv.

Ukrainian company Drone Space Labs has presented an unmanned aerial complex called “Zmiy” on the Brave1 Market platform, designed to intercept enemy UAVs. The complex has been developed for detecting, identifying and kinetically engaging aerial targets in the close-range air defence zone. The company currently has several positions open for engineers.

Ukrainian company 3DTech has presented the HYDRA KHYZHAK REBOFF unmanned complex. It has been developed to control a group of fibre-optic drones: conducting group ambush operations, synchronised strikes and remote mining in conditions of dense electronic warfare suppression. 3DTech currently has more than 20 job offers.

Ukrainian deftech company Wild Hornets has published the results of “Night Hornets” – its air defence unit. According to the manufacturer, this unit has been operating under an agreement with the Defence Forces since 2024. The company currently has more than 10 open vacancies on its website.

Sloboda Studio is looking for a Software Engineer (UAV Autonomy) to help develop its MilTech division.

Software Engineer (UAV Autonomy)

We are looking for a Middle–Senior Software Engineer to work on an innovative DefenseTech product from a Ukrainian startup. You will take part in developing software for autonomous systems, working in a small team with a high level of impact on the product.

Responsibilities:

Develop real-time software and flight algorithms for autonomous UAV operation.
Build and improve modules for interfacing with the ArduPilot autopilot via MAVLink and related stacks.
Integrate navigation sensors, flight controllers, and vision-based sensors (GPS, IMU, barometer, compass).
Develop in-flight decision-making logic, autonomous navigation, and guidance/interception algorithms.
Integrate computer vision and automatic targeting systems with the core flight logic.
Test software in simulators and during real-world flight trials.
Optimize software for low-latency performance on Embedded Linux.
Work autonomously in an Agile format within an early-stage startup environment.

Qualifications:

Experience: Middle / Senior level (candidates with varying levels of experience will be considered, depending on hands-on background).
Core stack: Strong proficiency in C++, with experience developing for Embedded Linux.
Domain expertise: Experience developing software for UAVs, robotics, or autonomous systems, including work with ArduPilot or similar platforms.
Key knowledge: Understanding of navigation principles, flight control, state estimation, and multithreaded application development.
Nice to have:
- Experience with OpenCV, Computer Vision, Visual Odometry, or SLAM.
- Knowledge of MAVLink, MAVSDK, or DroneKit.
- Understanding of aerial target guidance and interception system principles.
Soft skills: Autonomy, results-orientation, adaptability, and readiness to work within a startup’s flexible processes.
English level: Intermediate / Professional Working Proficiency (for working with technical documentation).

Location & Logistics:

Location: Kyiv, Ukraine (hybrid format, on-site work preferred).
Time zone: Kyiv / CET (40 hours/week; part-time start possible).
Travel: Participation in test flights at testing grounds as needed.
