MoD codifies Bizon-L UGV: up to 300 kg payload and optional 12.7 mm machine gun module

Ukraine’s Ministry of Defence has codified and approved the Bizon-L UGV for use by the Armed Forces. The system is a domestically developed system equipped with six types of communication, including LTE, Wi-Fi, and Starlink, ensuring stable control even in areas affected by enemy electronic warfare.

The main use case for Bizon-L is logistics. The platform can reach speeds of up to 12 km/h, carry up to 300 kg, and has an operational range of up to 50 km.

According to the MoD, the control system allows operators to integrate combat and functional modules into a single interface. The UGV can transport cargo and ammunition, as well as evacuate wounded personnel. With additional equipment, Bizon-L can:

• deploy engineering barriers
• lay mines
• serve as a mobile platform for antennas, relays, and electronic warfare systems

It can also be fitted with a combat module equipped with a 12.7 mm machine gun.

The system can be deployed into combat position within minutes. Its chassis is designed to operate in difficult terrain, including mud, snow, ice, and uneven landscapes. Due to its design features, the UGV has a low thermal signature, reducing its visibility in the infrared spectrum.

The ministry notes that over the past three months, UGVs have carried out more than 22,000 missions on the frontline, including 9,000 in March alone.

Defence Minister Mykhailo Fedorov recently set a goal of transitioning up to 100% of frontline logistics operations to robotic systems. In the first half of 2026, the MoD plans to contract 25,000 UGVs — twice as many as in all of last year. Earlier, the Defence Procurement Agency reported signing 19 contracts with manufacturers worth a total of UAH 11 billion.
