Ukrainian troops conduct first logistics mission using amphibious UGV

Personnel from the Alter Ego unit of the 93rd Separate Mechanised Brigade conducted a logistics mission using an amphibious unmanned ground vehicle.

According to Brave1 cluster, the robot travelled more than 40 km over land and water, delivering provisions and ammunition to frontline positions. The cluster described the mission as the first use of an amphibious UGV of its kind by Ukrainian troops.

The system’s name and developer were not disclosed in the announcement.

Rivers, canals and marshland can make routes difficult or completely impassable for conventional ground robots. Using aerial platforms for logistics is also not always the optimal solution.

An amphibious UGV can complete a combined route without requiring a change of platform. On land, it retains the cross-country mobility of a ground vehicle and can enter the water within seconds to continue its journey. A single robot can therefore perform logistics missions along routes featuring different types of terrain and water obstacles.

Before the mission, the amphibious UGV was refined over several months in cooperation with military personnel. Its development incorporated real operational requirements, deployment experience and the terrain conditions found on the front line.

Brave1 provided grant support to help bring the system into operational use. In June 2026, the updated Brave1 grant programme introduced a dedicated “Amphibious UGVs” category for such projects.
