Besomar 1100 reconnaissance UAV can remain airborne for up to four hours

Ukrainian company Besomar has unveiled the Besomar 1100 reconnaissance unmanned aerial system. The fixed-wing UAV is designed for aerial reconnaissance, extended surveillance and transmitting video to the operator in real time, the company said Defender Media.

The Besomar 1100 has a stated flight endurance of up to four hours and an operating range of up to 100km. Its cruising speed is 90–100km/h, while its maximum operating altitude is up to 5,500m.

The UAV is equipped with a camera with zoom capability for surveying the terrain during flight.

Besomar is also developing a photogrammetric configuration for aerial photography of large areas. During a photogrammetry mission, the UAV takes a series of photographs of the area, which are then digitally combined using overlapping images. The resulting data can be used to create an orthophoto map — a single georeferenced image of the terrain — as well as digital 2D and 3D models.

The technology is being developed with grant support from Brave1, while the Besomar 1100 is already in serial production.

Defender Media previously reported on the US Department of War’s procurement of Raybird reconnaissance drones and related services from Ukrainian company Skyeton, in a deal worth $10.64 million.
