DevDroid expands the functionality of its universal UGV control system

Ukrainian defence tech company DevDroid has introduced new features for its universal UGV control system Droid Box. The changes affect platform autonomy and audio transmission between the operator and the unit.

UGVs equipped with Droid Box can now automatically traverse sections with no or unstable communication. The operator sets the route in advance, the vehicle travels through the defined zone, and control resumes once the signal returns.

Another new function is designed to better control the operation of the UGV by transmitting sound from the vehicle’s microphones to the operator’s tablet. This allows the pilot to hear changes in the engine or mechanism operation and detect a possible malfunction more quickly.

In addition, the microphones allow the operator to hear people or vehicles that are not visible on camera.

In addition to receiving sound, the pilots can now transmit it from their tablets. The new function allows voice messages to be played back on the UGV’s speaker in real time, or pre-loaded files to be streamed.

DevDroid says it is already installing speakers on its vehicles. The UGV Zmiy Droid 12.7 from RoverTech and DevDroid will also be fitted with them.

Droid Box was presented in October 2025. The modular system unifies control of various ground drones, offering a single interface and a single operating logic for all platforms.

In April this year, the system underwent codification and is currently available on the Brave1 marketplace for UAH 117,000.
