Anton Drobovych named head of Alta Ares’ Ukrainian office

French defence tech startup Alta Ares has appointed a new CEO for its Ukrainian office. The role has gone to Anton Drobovych – former head of the Ukrainian Institute of National Remembrance, a candidate of philosophical sciences and a veteran.

It took more than a year to find the candidate, Alta Ares CEO Adrien Kanter told Forbes. He believes Drobovych’s military experience and philosophical education will help him make the right decisions quickly.

‘We want to be the leading AI lab in Ukraine. And we need to have the right philosophical answers regarding the use of AI,’ Kanter adds.

Under Drobovych’s leadership, the startup’s Ukrainian team is set to grow. It currently employs around 20 engineers, but the headcount will triple by the end of the year.

To support this effort, Alta Ares is investing one-fifth of the €50 million funding round it raised in spring 2026 into its Ukrainian office. The funds will also be used to expand the company’s operations and scale up production.

Currently, one of the company’s key products is Pixel Lock. This is a software module responsible for terminal guidance in interceptor drones. Alta Ares cooperates with around 10 Ukrainian interceptor manufacturers that use its stack.
