Wild Hornets’ Hornet Vision Ctrl becomes Ukraine’s first codified remote drone control system

The Ministry of Defence of Ukraine has codified the Hornet Vision Ctrl system, which allows pilots to remotely control drones from anywhere in the world. The developer, Wild Hornets, adds that this is the first UAV remote control system to pass codification under NATO standards and be officially approved for operation in the Armed Forces.

The system comprises a ground control station with a digital video system featuring an omnidirectional antenna, as well as equipment for remotely connecting the operator’s workstation. The system is compatible with Wild Hornets drones that use the Hornet Vision communication system.

Hornet Vision Ctrl was unveiled in March this year, and in April, operators used it to destroy targets at a distance of more than 500 km from their location for the first time. In less than three months, the system has been used to destroy more than 600 aerial targets, including jet-powered Shaheds.

Defender Media previously reported on the testing of the remote control for Litavr drones. The system’s first combat use took place on 24 March. At the time, during the repulsion of a Russian massed attack, a pilot from the 190th SOF training centre shot down a Shahed by remotely controlling an interceptor hundreds of kilometres from the point of interception.
