Ukrainian defence tech company Odd Systems has unveiled its first daytime digital camera, the Svitlych-662. It has been developed specifically for drones using computer vision: from small UAVs to ground robots and stationary observation points. The camera is named after Ivan Svitlychny, a Ukrainian literary critic and dissident who faced repression under the Soviet Union.

The camera is equipped with a sensor that delivers Full HD imagery, including in minimal lighting conditions. It supports up to 60 fps at 1080p. The company adds that the Svitlych-662 is optimised for CV algorithms and is compatible with Raspberry Pi, Jetson, and Orange Pi microcomputers.

The camera features a reinforced housing for field operations and optical protection. It can also be customised to specific tasks as required. Odd Systems CEO Roman Medvedev adds that the camera has been adapted to military requirements and is ready for serial production and deployment. It is currently available for pre-order on the company’s website.

To reduce dependence on foreign components, Odd Systems plans to build its own camera sensor manufacturing facility in Ukraine. However, following the announcement, the company received “significant interest” from the United States, said co-founder Yaroslav Azhnyuk. Odd Systems is therefore considering building a similar facility in the United States.
