The Ukrainian company DevDroid has created a modular control system for unmanned ground vehicles — Droid Box, which significantly simplifies and accelerates the development of such platforms. According to the developer, using Droid Box allows manufacturers to save up to six months of engineering work.

Droid Box is responsible for communications, control, and the integration of combat modules, supports simultaneous connection via Radio, LTE, and Starlink, and allows operators to control the platforms using a tablet or gamepad through an intuitive interface.

A combat module Wolly from DevDroid can be connected to the platform, turning a logistic vehicle into a reconnaissance-strike complex. The system also opens possibilities for using elements of artificial intelligence — for autonomous detection, capture, and tracking of targets.

“Droid Box is essentially an ‘operating system’ for UGVs that accelerates development, integration, and the deployment of new solutions on the battlefield,” explains DevDroid CEO Yurii Poritsky. According to him, the system will help establish a unified control standard for Ukrainian UGVs, enabling operators to master different platforms more quickly.

DevDroid has already integrated Droid Box into several platforms:

  • NUMO — a multi-purpose tracked UGV for logistics and combat tasks;
  • Ravlyk — a universal platform for logistics, ammunition delivery, and evacuation of the wounded;
  • Zmiy — an armoured robot resistant to anti-personnel mines and FPV attacks;
  • Bizon — a platform for transporting ammunition, evacuation, and fire support.

Defender Media recently reported that the Ukrainian division of the German defence company ARX Robotics has begun localising the production of components for its GEREON loitering munitions. The report also covered the company’s cooperation with the loitering munitions school of the 3rd Assault Brigade.
