F-Drones unveils its first mid-strike – Captain for $4,200

Ukrainian defence tech company F-Drones is expanding its product line-up – the manufacturer has unveiled its first mid-strike drone. It has been named Captain and is already in use by combat brigades. Defender learned more details about the UAV from an F-Drones representative.

The new drone can fly up to 100 km and carry a warhead of up to 10 kg. The base version is equipped with a Starlink terminal, but the UAV can be fitted with an analogue link if required. In addition to the UAV, the complex includes a catapult and a ground station.

Development of Captain began last year and was completed in spring 2026. The request for a cheap mid-strike came from the military, some of whom are already using trial batches. The drone’s key targets are radars, air defence assets, warehouses, command posts and enemy logistics.

The company plans to begin mass production after codification, which is currently underway. It does not disclose current volumes, but overall it can produce around 1,000 drones a month.

The mid-strike, like the company’s other drones, also supports remote control, though this function is not available by default. It can be added at a unit’s request. The UAV does not yet have a system for evading enemy interceptors.

The cost of the Captain mid-strike is $4,200. Its components currently come from various countries; the company plans to localise the drone by 80-90% after the start of serial production.

Thus, the F-Drones line-up now includes a mid-strike drone, the Litavr interceptor, and the F7 and F10 FPV drones. A batch of the latter was shipped to the US in early July – the Pentagon signed a contract with the company following the Drone Dominance programme. F-Drones became one of the winners of the first phase of this competition.
