Wild Hornets to train Sting interceptor drone operators together with the Serhiy Prytula Charity Foundation’s training centre

Ukrainian company Wild Hornets and the Serhiy Prytula Charity Foundation’s training centre are launching a training programme for Sting interceptor drone operators. The foundation disclosed to Defender Media that at least 300 military personnel – pilots and technicians – are planned to be trained at the centre within six months.

The programme’s target audience is service members who already have experience operating other interceptor drones or are FPV drone operators. Before the launch, the organisers conducted a trial training session to refine the training methodology and adapt the programme to the military’s real-world needs.

The training programme will run for five days and comprise both theory and practical components. It ends with a practical examination. Upon successful completion of the course, graduates receive a certificate.

For the sixth month in a row, Sting holds first place among drones by the number of Shaheds and Gerbers it has shot down, Cenzor reports. The interceptor is currently downing between 600 Shaheds per month. On average, two sorties are required per enemy drone, the co-founders of Wild Hornets told the media.

They also added that approximately $500,000 was invested in launching production of the interceptor. At the same time, military units were initially slow to adopt the Sting, as they were focused on shooting down reconnaissance rather than strike drones.
