Robotto, a Danish company developing autonomy software for drones, is opening a subsidiary in Ukraine. Its technology is already in use by Ukrainian UAV manufacturers. Robotto co-founder Kenneth Richard Geipel shared the details with Defender Media.

Robotto develops software for both quadcopters and fixed-wing UAVs. The company’s software autonomously guides a drone to its target once the operator has acquired it. The company does not disclose which UAV manufacturers purchase its software. However, Kenneth Geipel says sales are going well.

The company is currently in the final stages of hiring a head for its Ukrainian office. In addition to this role, the office will include development and support teams. The company plans to hire five to six people by the end of the year.

The investment sum for opening the Ukrainian subsidiary has not been disclosed. It is known, however, that the office was established following investment in Robotto from venture firm Final Frontier and the Export and Investment Fund of Denmark.

Robotto was founded in 2019. The company has been working with Ukrainian drone manufacturers and military units since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion. Beyond military applications, Robotto’s technology is also used in civilian sectors – for instance, to detect koalas in Australia to protect them during wildfires, and to track elephants in national parks. The developers also offer their software for search-and-rescue services, wildfire mapping, border surveillance, and other purposes.
