Ukraine and Slovenia are preparing for the Drone Deal. This was stated by Volodymyr Zelenskyy following a meeting with Foreign Minister Tone Kajzer and Defence Minister Valentin Hajdinjak.

The countries have already discussed initial results and joint defence projects that could be implemented. Zelenskyy’s office states that Slovenia is interested in Ukraine’s unique experience and knowledge. However, no details on the expected timeframe for concluding the agreement have been disclosed.

The nearest agreement in the Drone Deal format could be concluded with Canada. Ukraine expects to sign it by the end of September.

Slovenia has previously supported Ukraine during the war: it took part in the procurement of artillery shells and provided M-55S tanks and funding for humanitarian demining.

In 2024, the two states signed an agreement on security cooperation and long-term support. This included provisions on possible joint defence projects.
