Ukrainian defence technology company DevDroid presented its Droid TW 7.62 and Droid TW 12.7 combat unmanned ground vehicles during trials involving the Italian Army. The company announced this in a press release provided to Defender Media.

During an intensive training scenario, the DevDroid systems operated alongside the Italian ULISSE UGV developed by ABET HTS.

The scenario involved artillery support, coordination between robotic platforms and an infantry unit during an assault on enemy positions, casualty evacuation and a subsequent advance.

DevDroid specialists demonstrated the operation of the systems, their interface and the employment principles of combat UGVs under realistic conditions. The Italian and Ukrainian teams practised platform interoperability and conducted joint missions within a single scenario.

For DevDroid, the trials also provided an opportunity to share operational experience with unmanned ground vehicles gained in Ukraine.

The participants separately assessed the feasibility of connecting Ukrainian UGVs to a NATO situational awareness system. The trials tested the transmission of the robotic systems’ coordinates and video feeds to the system, as well as platform control through the tactical network.

DevDroid reported that the teams successfully practised system interoperability and completed the joint tasks set out in the training scenario.
