Upgraded Vepr UGV can evacuate two casualties at once

Ukraine’s Ministry of Defence has codified and approved for operational use the upgraded Ukrainian-made Vepr UGV, which is engineered for logistics and casualty evacuation missions.

Vepr is a multifunctional ground robot whose initial units have been deployed on the front line since 2024. The platform underwent rigorous testing in combat conditions and was subsequently upgraded based on operational experience and feedback from frontline personnel.

With a combat weight of approximately 350 kg, the robot can transport an equivalent payload. Vepr is equipped with two 1,500 W electric motors that enable speeds exceeding 7.5 km/h, while its battery architecture provides an operational range of nearly 40 km on a single charge. The platform is operated via digital cameras and multiple secure communication channels.

The upgraded Vepr can execute a wide range of operational tasks. These include delivering ammunition and other critical cargo, evacuating two casualties simultaneously, conducting remote demining operations, acting as a one-way attack platform, and recovering damaged vehicles or other robotic systems from the battlefield.

Previous Vepr UGV models were priced at approximately UAH 600,000, whereas the unit cost of the updated variant has not yet been disclosed.

According to the Ministry of Defence, Ukrainian uncrewed ground systems conduct approximately 10,000 evacuation and logistics missions every month, significantly mitigating risks to personnel. In the first half of 2026, the Ministry of Defence plans to procure more than 25,000 UGVs under state contracts.
