Over two months since the pilot launch of the DOT-Chain Defence platform, the armed forces have placed orders for almost 17,000 unmanned aerial vehicles totalling nearly UAH 600 million, the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine reports.

Twelve combat brigades on key directions — Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, Donetsk and Kherson — have joined the pilot. During the platform’s operation:

  • almost 17,000 UAVs were ordered for nearly UAH 600 million;
  • almost 13,000 UAVs worth UAH 443 million were received, the average delivery time being 10 days and the fastest — 5 days;
  • under the “Army of Drones Bonus” programme some 23,800 devices have been supplied.

“Thanks to DOT-Chain Defence, units for the first time choose weapons themselves — they do not wait for centralised decisions. Three KEP signatures and the drone is already on its way. At the same time, this is direct feedback from the frontline for weapons manufacturers. This allows products to be adapted quickly,” said Defence Minister Denys Shmyhal.

Recall that the DOT-Chain Defence pilot is an armaments marketplace for the Armed Forces of Ukraine where units order the supplies they need themselves, while bureaucratic matters and payments are handled by the Defence Procurement Agency. The project aims to provide 70% of UAVs via DOT-Chain Defence within six months.
