The Cabinet of Ministers has opened the market for the training of operators of unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs) and unmanned surface vessels (USVs). Previously, this model had only been applied to the training of UAV pilots, Deputy Prime Minister Mykhailo Fedorov said.

From now on, military personnel will be able to undertake certified courses at private schools, with the state covering the cost of training. According to the plan, by the end of the year this will enable the training of thousands of specialists to operate the latest technologies on the frontline and in maritime operations.

The government resolution introducing experimental training for UGV operators now also includes provisions for operators of ground robotic complexes. Legal entities and public associations may apply to provide training, but each training centre must have its own drones and employ external instructors under formal contracts.

Individuals undergoing training will be able to obtain certificates as external UGV operators, operator-instructors, or crew members of unmanned ground vehicles. Certificates will be issued upon successful completion of theoretical and practical examinations in line with the requirements of the training institution.

Further details about the opportunities for UGV operator training will be announced by the government in later. Previously, Defender Media reported that a UGV operator school is already operating at the training centres of the Third Assault Brigade, based on the brigade’s own curriculum.
