Wild Hornets develop new version of their interceptor drone – Sting 2.0

Ukrainian defence tech company Wild Hornets is working on a new version of its interceptor drone. It has been named Sting 2.0. Work on the upgrade began in early 2026, and it is currently at the combat testing stage. The manufacturer disclosed this to Defender Media for a piece on the interception of jet-powered Shaheds.

The drone is being created in response to Russia’s use of jet-powered drones. To effectively shoot them down, the new version of the Sting will be faster than the current one. However, the company notes that it is important to work with pilots to find the right balance between the required speed and range.

Sting 2.0 will be approximately 30% more expensive than the standard version. It will also receive an auto-detection function, to which target guidance will later be added. At the same time, Wild Hornets add that the current version of the interceptor is also capable of shooting down jet-powered Shaheds. The manufacturer has video confirmation of the downing of around 50 such drones.
