Tryzub laser weapon completes final trials: what specifications the developer claims
The developers say that last winter Tryzub was burning through FPV drones. The effective engagement range against FPVs is 800-900 metres

Ukrainian company Celebra Tech has stated that its laser system Tryzub is undergoing final trials and is already capable of engaging targets at a range of 5 km. Around 15 people are currently working on it. Over several years of development, the system has received a number of improvements; the manufacturer disclosed the details to Defender Media.
The first announcement of Ukraine’s possession of a laser weapon was made by Vadym Sukharevsky, former Commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces. “Today we can shoot down aircraft with this laser at an altitude of over 2 km,” Interfax quoted him as saying in 2024.
The system itself was publicly shown for the first time in 2025. At the time, it was stated to be capable of destroying strike drones, aerial bombs, cruise and ballistic missiles at ranges of up to 3 km, shooting down helicopters and aircraft at up to 5 km, and blinding equipment at distances of up to 10 km.
The developers say that last winter, Tryzub was burning through FPV drones. At the time, it was tested against drones of 7, 8, 9, and 13 inches. The effective engagement range against FPVs is 800-900 metres. The system is now capable of shooting down reconnaissance drones at ranges of up to 1.5 km. The laser destroys optics, electronics, structural components, and wing bodies.
When asked whether the laser had been tested in combat conditions, the developers responded that a prototype of the laser module had undergone combat trials in 2021 and 2022. At that time, it took the form of a light rifle Tryzub-120. “The system engaged the optoelectronic equipment of Ka-52 helicopters and Orlan reconnaissance drones, as well as Murom and Grenader observation stations,” the company said.
The price of the system has not been disclosed, but the developers say it will be cheaper than foreign equivalents. The company is self-funded. The price of the British laser weapon DragonFire is approximately £120 million. It should be noted that, according to The Atlantic, Ukraine has also developed the Sunray laser cannon, with an expected cost of several hundred thousand dollars.
Celebra Tech also adds that, beyond engaging aerial targets, their laser is suitable for demining. The system has recently received several new features:
- a terminal guidance system;
- target acquisition and tracking;
- radar integration for target movement tracking.
The company states that, alongside Tryzub, it has developed the Laurus-13F fibre-optic FPV drone and the Svidok middle-strike UAV. Also currently in development are bombers, UGVs, EW systems, and software.
