A Ukrainian interceptor drone, the General Cherry AIR, has destroyed one of Russia’s newest and rarest reconnaissance UAVs, the Knyaz Veshchiy Oleg. Defender Media was told about the incident by General Cherry.
The successful interception of the aerial target was carried out by the “Hrim” crew of the 55th Separate Artillery Brigade “Zaporizka Sich”.
The Knyaz Veshchiy Oleg is one of the latest models among Russian reconnaissance drones. It is designed for deep aerial reconnaissance and is capable of conducting photo and video surveillance of targets at a distance of 40–45 kilometres from the front line. It was developed as a cheaper alternative to Orlan and ZALA reconnaissance UAVs.
The wingspan of the Knyaz Veshchiy Oleg UAV is 2.8 metres, its length is 0.82 metres, and its weight is 11 kg. The UAV can reach speeds of up to 130 km/h and climb to an altitude of 3,000 metres. This drone can operate without a satellite navigation system and features a protected communications channel with resistance to electronic warfare.
Earlier, Defender Media reported that General Cherry would manufacture Octopus interceptor drones under a licence from the Ministry of Defence.
