Terra Drone acquires 50% of Ukrainian Kurin Technologies for $3.5 million

Japanese corporation Terra Drone, through its European structure Terra Defense Europe, has acquired a 50% stake in Ukrainian company Kurin Technologies. Terra Drone announced the deal on 14 September. According to the company’s financial statements, the acquisition was worth around ¥560 million, or approximately $3.5 million.

Kurin Technologies is a privately held Ukrainian manufacturer of FPV multirotor interceptors designed to counter Russian UAVs in the combat zone. According to Terra Drone, the manufacturer’s main drones are the KT-1 and KT-2, which can reach speeds of more than 160 km/h and remain airborne for around 40 minutes.

In a Terra Drone presentation, the company’s CEO Toru Tokushige said that commercial deployment of Kurin’s products began in late April 2026, while production capacity exceeds 1,000 drones per month.

Terra Drone sees Kurin’s interceptors as a fast way to gain access to Ukrainian military customers. According to Tokushige, Kurin’s drones are being used by units of the 3rd Army Corps and have a strong reputation there. In the future, the Japanese company plans to use the Ukrainian manufacturer’s military contacts to promote its other systems, including jet-powered interceptors, reconnaissance, modular and missile-carrying UAVs.

The Japanese corporation also plans to use its own resources to scale up production further. Tokushige said the integration involves not only an investment but also bringing the Ukrainian company into the corporation’s consolidated structure: as a publicly listed company, Terra Drone will include Kurin’s financial results in its reporting.
