Ministry of Defence develops AI system SPECTR for combat data analysis and operational planning

The Ministry of Defence’s A1 Artificial Intelligence Centre is developing the SPECTR AI system. It will analyse combat data and assist with operational planning. Several combat units are currently testing the new product.

The Ministry of Defence has announced that SPECTR will turn a mass of military data into a real battlefield advantage. The system will analyse this information, identify patterns, form recommendations for future operations and forecast possible enemy actions.

In addition, the new product is intended to help organise military processes and automate routine work in headquarters. ‘Thanks to this, servicemen will be able to interact with information from the battlefield more quickly, while the data remains within a protected perimeter,’ the announcement states.

SPECTR will operate within systems already used by the Armed Forces, as well as on local devices designed for handling sensitive data.

The Artificial Intelligence Centre was launched in March this year with the United Kingdom’s support. It is headed by Danylo Tsvok, who previously served as Chief AI Officer of the Ministry of Digital Transformation and head of the WINWIN AI Center of Excellence.
