Ukraine’s Ministry of Defence has codified the domestically developed Talion unmanned aerial system, designed to serve both as an interceptor and a strike drone. The Talion’s primary role is to neutralise enemy unmanned aerial vehicles by operating as a kamikaze aircraft. The system can be piloted either manually or in a semi-automatic mode.

The drone is capable of operating at both low and high altitudes, allowing it to intercept virtually all types of enemy UAVs. Thanks to its extended flight endurance, the system can also carry out patrol and reconnaissance missions.

In addition to performing “short-range air defence” missions, the Talion can be deployed to strike ground targets and execute other tactical tasks as a strike drone. According to the Ministry of Defence, combining the functions of an aerial interceptor and a loitering munition will strengthen the capabilities of Ukrainian units to counter enemy drones while enabling high-precision strikes against targets at tactical depth.

The Talion-3 variant is listed on the government-operated Brave1 marketplace for UAH 150,000.

Defender Media previously reported on the One Punch interceptor developed by Ukrspecsystems, which features an onboard AI assistant for automatic target detection and acquisition.
