Ukrainian company TAF Industries is launching its own production of unmanned ground vehicles. The company will begin with two UGV models — the Legit S1 and Legit L1. They were developed in collaboration with military personnel from the Ukrainian Defence Intelligence of the Ministry of Defence and became part of the TAF Industries ecosystem following a merger and acquisition deal.

TAF Industries says the Ukrainian Defence Forces are already using Lehit UGVs on the frontline. The manufacturer shared the systems’ specifications and core capabilities with Defender Media.

The Legit is suited to a range of combat scenarios: logistics, reconnaissance, and fire support. It can also serve in a kamikaze role. The UGV features a modular design to enable rapid reconfiguration for different tasks. A two-person crew is required to operate and maintain the system.

The Ministry of Defence has codified both versions of UGV, the Legit S1 and the Legit L1. A proprietary ecosystem designed to simplify drone operation is also under development.

Legit S1 technical specifications:

  • Range (on a single battery charge) on paved road – 22 km, off-road – 21 km;
  • Continuous operation duration – 2 hours;
  • Maximum speed on paved roads – up to 25 km/h, off-road – up to 13 km/h;
  • Communication systems: LTE, or fibre-optic as an option.

Legit L1 technical specifications:

  • Range (on a single battery charge) on paved road – 30 km, off-road – 26 km;
  • Continuous operation duration – 2.5 hours;
  • Maximum speed on paved roads – up to 22 km/h, off-road – up to 15 km/h;
  • Navigation satellite system type: GPS;
  • Communication systems: LTE, Starlink.

In addition, both UGVs have modifications. For example, the Legit S1 is available in versions with fibre-optic communication, a grenade launcher mount, and a mini-trailer. The Legit L1 is available in versions with a grenade launcher mount, an engineering trailer for razor wire deployment, a logistics trailer, and a Pulsar turret for small arms. The modifications are currently being codified.

The products were developed jointly with military personnel from the Ukrainian Defence Intelligence of the Ministry of Defence. They are incorporated into TAF Industries under an M&A model within the Innovation Hub defence cluster. Defender Media has reported that in June 2025, the Ukrainian Defence Intelligence launched its own Legit UGV production.
