German firm ARX Robotics has secured a contract to significantly expand the fleet of unmanned ground vehicles in Ukraine, providing for the delivery of several hundred additional systems from the GEREON series, the company announced.

The new order will increase the GEREON fleet in Ukraine fivefold. The contract value has not been disclosed, and the company has not specified which country’s budget will fund the procurement.

The contract follows a surge in demand for ground robotic platforms to undertake logistics and support missions in the combat zone. According to the company, these new deliveries will augment the existing inventory of systems already deployed or awaiting delivery to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The UGVs are designated for a broad spectrum of tasks, including cargo transport, casualty evacuation, frontline resupply, and other critical support operations.

GEREON systems are categorised as medium-class ground robotic platforms, featuring a modular architecture that enables configurations to be tailored to specific mission requirements. This design facilitates the integration of diverse functional modules and ensures adaptability across various operational scenarios.

Furthermore, the company is scaling up its service support, encompassing operator instruction at dedicated training grounds and technical assistance directly at the unit level. This support framework covers the deployment, operation, and maintenance of the robotic systems.

ARX Robotics’ solutions are currently utilised by several European militaries in addition to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Earlier, Defender Media reported, citing the German outlet Welt, that the price of a single GEREON starts at €30,000 and can reach up to €150,000. This suggests that a contract for several hundred such UGVs could be worth from several million to tens of millions of euros.
