Beetroot Academy, within the Empower Ukraine project, is opening 10 free spots for veterans across Ukraine. Participants can choose one of two programs: Embedded Development or Computer Vision.

Embedded Development is an engineering program for technical specialists who want to transition from software development to the full hardware development cycle. Participants will learn microcontrollers, data transmission protocols, RTOS, and circuit design, and will complete the program with a final project and portfolio-ready work. The tech stack includes C/C++, FreeRTOS, GDB, OpenOCD, UART, SPI, I2C, TCP/IP, BLE, and LoRa.

Computer Vision is a short program designed for technical specialists without an ML background. Over six classes, participants will go from basic image processing to launching their own object detector. The toolkit includes OpenCV, PyTorch, YOLOv8, Roboflow, and ONNX. No prior ML experience is required — one year of programming experience in any language is sufficient.

Both programs are conducted online, allowing veterans from any region of the country to participate.

Participation requirements include veteran status and a technical background. The specific program and study group will be determined individually after the application process.

“Embedded engineering and computer vision are fields where Ukraine currently has fewer qualified specialists than the market demands. Veterans with a technical foundation can enter this field faster than it may seem. We want to make this step accessible,” comments Andreas Flodström, CEO of Beetroot Academy.

Beetroot Academy is a Swedish-Ukrainian educational organization with 12 years of experience training technical specialists. The Embedded Development and Computer Vision programs are part of the academy’s engineering track.
