New tracked UGV Spider showcased in Ukraine

A new tracked unmanned ground vehicle for fire support, Spider, has been presented in Ukraine. The platform is designed to engage armoured vehicles, fortifications, enemy personnel and low-speed aerial targets.

The system was demonstrated during a presentation by the National Association of Defence Industries of Ukraine, Militarnyi reports. The platform is currently undergoing codification for formal acceptance into service.

Spider supports multiple remote control channels, including LTE, radio communication, Starlink and fibre optics. Its armament includes Browning M2 and PKT machine guns, as well as AGS-17 and Mk19 automatic grenade launchers. The fire control system features hydraulic stabilisation, a ballistic calculator and third-party target tracking functionality.

The platform is built on a proprietary tracked chassis and is capable of autonomously moving to a designated position. The current version does not have armour protection, but the корпус is made of steel to match the weight and dimensions of a future armoured modification.

The UGV is equipped with smoke grenade launchers to create smoke screens, including for covering units and equipment. Depending on operational conditions, the system’s endurance can reach up to 72 hours.
