Ukraine launches the Mission Control project to unify drone operations into a single digital system

Ukraine’s Minister of Defence Mykhailo Fedorov has announced the launch of the Mission Control project, aimed at consolidating all drone operations of the Armed Forces of Ukraine into a single digital system.

According to Fedorov, Mission Control will be integrated as a separate module within the DELTA combat ecosystem. The order to launch the project has already been signed.

The minister explained that each UAV or UGV crew will enter the drone type, launch point, route, and mission task into the system. “All data is generated automatically based on the crews’ real operations,” he wrote. “For the first time, commanders receive a complete real-time picture of mission execution — without manual reports or bureaucracy.”

A video published by Fedorov explains that Mission Control enables users to:

  • plan UAV/UGV missions;
  • manage assets and frequencies;
  • see the operating areas of crews and different missions.

Mission Control is expected to improve coordination between units and provide UAV, EW, and air defence personnel with a clear understanding of which friendly drones are operating in a given sector. The ministry believes this will help reduce drone losses.

It is also reported that Mission Control will allow crews to receive tasks directly via a mobile app, while commanders will be able to collect all necessary information directly within the system.

he next step will be the launch of a similar command-and-control system for artillery, Fedorov noted.

He expects that military leadership will soon have full visibility over drone crews, commanders, monthly rankings, and statistics across the entire corps. According to the minister, this will speed up management decisions — moving away from manual control and intuition.

“At Brave1, there is a department of the mathematics of war, and we are already scaling this experience across the defence system,” Fedorov added. “We are moving from chaos and fragmented data to a controlled, technology-driven war, where decisions are made based on precise figures rather than assumptions.”

The new defence minister first publicly announced plans to launch Mission Control during a meeting with journalists last week. He also stated his intention to find replacements for Mavic and other Chinese-made drones.
