Ukrainian defence tech startup Frontline Robotics has closed its seed funding round, led by German drone manufacturer Quantum-Systems, which now holds a 10% stake in the company. Frontline confirmed the deal to Defender, citing a memorandum of understanding signed between the two companies. Financial details of the round were not disclosed.

Ukrainian defence tech startup Frontline Robotics has closed its seed funding round. It was led by German drone maker Quantum-Systems, which now holds a 10% stake in Frontline. The company confirmed the information to Defender, referencing the memorandum of understanding signed between Quantum-Systems and Frontline. Total funding details were not disclosed.

Quantum-Systems is joining Frontline’s cap table as a strategic investor. The two companies have signed a memorandum of strategic cooperation, signaling a deeper alignment beyond capital. The partnership spans a broad range of areas — from technological and industrial collaboration to joint R&D initiatives. Special emphasis is placed on scaling up production in Ukraine, localising component manufacturing in Europe, and integrating Ukrainian innovations into the European defence ecosystem.

Frontline develops reconnaissance UAVs such as Zoom and Linza, as well as robotic combat modules — notably, the “Burya” turret for the 40mm Mk 19 grenade launcher. The company’s solutions feature proprietary visual navigation systems that operate without GPS, as well as a custom-built communications platform.

The memorandum also outlines plans to integrate Frontline’s technologies into several Quantum-Systems platforms — including the electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) drones Vector and Twister, and the modular Drone Port infrastructure, which enables autonomous, real-time aerial reconnaissance.

Quantum-Systems is a German company specialising in next-generation unmanned systems with eVTOL capabilities. Its products combine artificial intelligence, edge computing, and real-time autonomous analytics. With a global presence in the United States, Australia, Ukraine, and Romania, the company continues to expand. In Ukraine, it already operates a technical service and logistics centre, as well as a drone manufacturing facility — with plans to double production this year.
