Buntar Aerospace has raised $200K from Uklon co-founders

Buntar Aerospace, a Ukrainian defence-tech startup, has raised $200,000 in investment from the co-founders of the Ukrainian service Uklon. The funds raised will be used for R&D, purchase of components and team expansion. Right now, the company is testing the Buntar One UAV at the test site and integrating the Buntar Copilot software with other UAVs.

The co-founders of Uklon, Dmytro Dubrovsky, Serhiy Smus, Victoria Dubrovska and Vitaliy Dyatlenko, who stepped down from the company’s operational management last August, decided to raise a $2 million fund in 2024 to develop the domestic defence tech sector. The team plans to include 8-10 companies in the portfolio and is interested in financing startups at the seed round.

The investment in Buntar Aerospace is the first time that Uklon has publicly invested in a Ukrainian defence tech startup. The company’s founders explained that it is important to them not only that Buntar manufactures drones but also actively develops software for them.

Founded in August 2023 by Ivan Kaunov, Kateryna Bezsudna, and Bohdan Sas, Buntar combines a unique military and startup experience that allows the team to approach the improvement of defence products from a technical perspective. The startup is currently developing two products:

• Buntar Copilot – software that automates the planning and execution of reconnaissance missions.
• Buntar One is a reconnaissance drone with enhanced navigation capabilities and an increased number of cameras.

To date, Buntar Aerospace has successfully raised $2.2 mln in investment from Ukrainian and foreign investors.
