Tencore to set up joint venture with Insta to produce Ukrainian UGVs in Finland

Ukrainian developer and manufacturer of unmanned ground vehicles Tencore will establish a joint venture with Finnish company Insta. The two companies signed a memorandum of intent on August 23 in the presence of the presidents of Ukraine and Finland.

The joint venture will enable the production of Ukrainian UGVs in Finland. Tencore says the partners’ initial target is to manufacture 320 TerMIT 2.0 vehicles at Finnish production facilities.

The joint venture is being established as part of the Build with Ukraine initiative. According to Tencore, it will operate under a distributed production model involving Finnish industrial partners. “This will allow us to create additional protected production sites outside Ukraine and significantly increase the pace of delivering ‘hardware’ to the front,” the company said.

The Ukrainian Council of Defence Industry also reported that Finnish company Boomeranger Boats and an unnamed Ukrainian USV manufacturer signed a memorandum on establishing a joint venture in the maritime unmanned systems sector during a roundtable attended by Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Alexander Stubb. “The agreement covers joint development, additional production capabilities and manufacturing in Finland,” the council said.

Defender Media previously reported that Ukrainian unmanned systems manufacturer General Cherry and Finnish defence company Patria had also signed a memorandum of intent to jointly produce drones.
