Rarog strikes Russian Mi-28 helicopter with Ukrainian Shrike FPV drone

Soldiers from the Rarog Brigade of Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces have struck a Russian Mi-28 attack helicopter using an FPV drone. The target was engaged with a Shrike 10 drone manufactured by Ukrainian company SkyFall, the company said. The strike took place at around 10:00 near the village of Viazove in Russia’s Belgorod region.

SkyFall shared footage of the operation with Defender Media. The video captures the moment of impact, but the helicopter’s fate remains unknown. However, Commander of Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces, Robert “Magyar” Brovdi, commented on the footage on his Telegram channel, writing: “The Mi-28 ‘Night Hunter’ went nose-first into the ground.”

According to the manufacturer, a Shrike 10 costs less than $400, while the price of an Mi-28 can reach $19 million.

The Mi-28 Night Hunter is a Russian attack helicopter designed to engage armoured vehicles, personnel and other ground targets. It is armed with a 30 mm automatic cannon and can carry both guided and unguided rockets.

This is the second Russian helicopter destroyed using a Shrike drone since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion. In September 2025, soldiers from the Predators of the Heights Battalion shot down a $10 million Mi-8 with the same drone, marking the first confirmed case of an FPV drone destroying a helicopter in flight.
