Ministry of Defence launches AI centre to accelerate technology adoption in the military
A dedicated centre will be established for each key domain of the war

A network of military technology centres of excellence is to be established under Ukraine’s Ministry of Defence. Their purpose is to analyse the battlefield and technologies, and to determine the next steps in development. The first in the network will be the Defence AI Centre “A1”, which will work with AI-powered solutions.
The AI centre is being launched with the support of the United Kingdom. Its core functions will include:
- combat data analysis;
- enemy action forecasting;
- development of autonomous systems;
- new command and control tools.
The emergence of such a network will help convert combat experience and frontline data into technological solutions more rapidly, according to Mykhailo Fedorov. A dedicated centre will be established for each key domain of the war: drones, middle strike, deep strike, artillery, and others.
Ideas for developing the AI centre can be submitted via email. The Ministry of Defence recently revised its approach to drone procurement to eliminate the “zoo” of ineffective solutions. From now on, drone needs will be shaped by battlefield statistics.
