BlueBird Tech unveils disposable Chipa net launcher for countering drones

Ukrainian company BlueBird Tech has unveiled a disposable, pistol-style net launcher named Chipa, specifically engineered to counter FPV drones.

The device deploys a specialised net that unfolds in mid-air to form a 3×3 metre mesh. This mesh is designed to entangle the drone’s propellers, effectively neutralising the aircraft during flight. The system’s effective interception range reaches up to 25 metres.

“Чіпа” призначений для використання як інструмент “останньої лінії оборони”, коли FPV-дрон уже намагається атакувати ціль. На відміну від стрілецької зброї або систем радіоелектронної боротьби, сіткомет не створює радіоперешкод, не демаскує позицію та мінімізує ризик утворення уламків.

‘Chipa’ is intended to serve as a ‘last line of defence’ for scenarios where an FPV drone is already on a terminal strike path. Unlike small arms or electronic warfare (EW) systems, the net launcher operates without generating radio interference, does not compromise the operator’s position, and significantly minimises the risk of falling debris.

Preparing the device for deployment takes only a few seconds: the operator simply removes the safety pin, aims, and pulls the trigger.

The net launcher is priced at 2,700 UAH.
