Canadian General Dynamics signs agreements with Ukrainian GreenTech

Canadian defence company General Dynamics Mission Systems–Canada last week signed cooperation documents with two Ukrainian defence enterprises—Ratel Robotics and GreenTech Harvest.

The memorandum of cooperation with GreenTech Harvest provides for the Ukrainian company to contribute its “experience in operating and adapting UAVs to combat conditions,” while General Dynamics Mission Systems–Canada will contribute Canadian manufacturing capacity and industrial expertise.

“Canada and Ukraine have built a strong defence relationship, and this agreement is a practical way to turn that partnership into capability,” said General Dynamics Vice President Joel Houde in a statement. According to him, Ukraine’s defence industry is rapidly adapting to changes on the battlefield, while Canadian manufacturing capabilities will establish the required operational capacity and deepen defence cooperation between the countries.

Oleh Donets, Programme Director at GreenTech Harvest LLC, stressed that the experience of the war in Ukraine has demonstrated the critical importance of UAVs in modern warfare. According to him, the company has to constantly adapt its products to the market, and cooperation with the Canadian company will make it possible to combine combat-proven technologies with manufacturing capabilities.

General Dynamics Mission Systems–Canada, headquartered in Ottawa, specialises in communications systems, sonar, anti-submarine warfare, and remotely piloted aircraft system technologies. The company is one of Canada’s largest defence organisations and manufactures systems for maritime, air, land, and cyber operations.
