EU-Ukraine Drone Alliance holds first meeting to define priority areas of work

Co-founders of the drone alliance between Ukraine and the EU have held their first meeting. At present, the association’s key task is to establish governing bodies and define priority areas of work, says Roman Tkachenko, co-founder and CBDO of one of the alliance’s member companies, Tencore.

European Commissioner for Defence and Space Andrius Kubilius stated that the alliance’s primary aim is to accelerate the establishment of joint ventures and implement projects in the field of counter-UAS.

In addition, the European Union seeks to scale up defence production, resolve supply chain problems and speed up research, development and procurement, reducing the time from requirement to prototype.

The alliance’s establishment was first reported in spring. In addition to the tasks already listed, it will also focus on integrating Ukrainian manufacturers into the EU’s defence ecosystem.

The list of the alliance’s co-founders includes nine Ukrainian manufacturers: SkyFall Industries, Greentech Harvest, Tencore, Deviro, Vyriy Industries, Atlon Avia, TAF Industries, UForce and F-Drones.

On the EU side, the Alliance includes ORQA, Indra Group, Fincantieri, WB Electronics, Destinus, Delair, RSI Europe, Terma and Quantum Systems.

The next board meeting is scheduled for the year-end. Before then, the European Commission will publish additional information on how other manufacturers can join the alliance.
