Terra Drone announces combat deployment of the Terra A2 interceptor drone in Ukraine

Japanese company Terra Drone Corporation has announced the commencement of operational deployment in Ukraine of the fixed-wing Terra A2 interceptor drone, produced by the Ukrainian defence company WinnyLab.

The Terra A2 is positioned as an uncrewed aerial vehicle (UAV) engineered for wide-area patrol missions, long-range flight, and extended airborne endurance. According to stated technical specifications, the platform can attain speeds of up to 312 km/h, operate within an operational radius of up to 75 km, and remain airborne for more than 40 minutes. Automated integration with radar networks for the detection, tracking, and interception of aerial targets has also been confirmed.

Terra Drone reports that the Terra A2 is already being deployed to protect Ukraine’s critical infrastructure from strike drones. According to operators, the system underwent comparative evaluation against other available solutions prior to selection, being chosen for its ease of deployment and intuitive flight controls. It is also claimed that the UAV fully validated its stated performance characteristics during real-world operations.

As Defender Media has learned, the “Terra A2” is available for procurement by military units. The unit cost of the drone is $3,000.

The company also announced plans to pair the Terra A2 with the rocket-assisted Terra A1 interceptor, which has previously demonstrated successful interceptions of aerial targets. According to the developers, this combination is intended to form a layered counter-UAS (C-UAS) defence framework.

The “Terra A1” interceptor is currently available on the state-backed Brave1 marketplace in three configurations: equipped with an analogue, digital, or thermal-imaging camera. The variant configured with an analogue video feed is priced at UAH 50,000, while the digital version is listed at UAH 60,000.
