The Security Service of Ukraine has presented a new generation of Sea Baby unmanned surface platforms, which have already been tested in successful missions in the Black Sea, including their participation in the third strike on the Crimean Bridge on 3 June 2025.

The updated platforms are capable of covering a distance of over 1,500 km, carrying up to 2,000 kg of payload, and are equipped with reinforced engines and a modern navigation system. According to SBU Brigadier General Ivan Lukashevych, during this year’s strike on the Crimean Bridge, it was these drones that delivered the explosives to the required location, which were then used to blow up the bridge supports.

During the demonstration, the development team showcased two drones with different types of armament: the first is equipped with a gyrostabilised machine-gun mount featuring automatic target tracking and recognition, while the second carries heavy weaponry — a 10-round Grad multiple rocket launcher system.

Head of the SBU, Lieutenant General Vasyl Maliuk, stated that the new-generation drones have become even more effective and have “changed the balance of power in the Black Sea”. The Security Service continues to develop other models of advanced weaponry, which are already being deployed in the Black Sea, though detailed information about these systems is not currently subject to disclosure.

The new modifications of Sea Baby were funded through donations collected on the UNITED24 platform.
