Ukraine signed a Drone Deal with Norway. The countries have also concluded a declaration on strategic partnership

Ukraine and Norway have signed a defence cooperation agreement in the Drone Deal format. President Zelenskyy announced this after a meeting with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre.

Under the agreement, the countries aim to intensify the exchange of technology and expertise. It will also enable the development of joint projects in the fields of air defence and drones, European Pravda writes, citing the Norwegian prime minister.

In addition to the Drone Deal, the countries concluded a declaration on strategic partnership called Yelyzaveta – named after the daughter of Prince Yaroslav the Wise, who was Queen of Norway. Both documents strengthen the partnership between the two countries in defence and energy.

Norway will also continue its support for Ukraine in 2027 – the country plans to allocate around $9bn under the Nansen Programme. This is a 75bn initiative, which Ukraine has been gradually receiving over 2023–2027. Of this, almost $130m has gone towards the procurement of maritime drones for Ukraine.

In parallel, the two sides have launched joint production of mid-strike drones in Norway, which, according to the plan, should already have sent drones to the Defence Forces. Alongside state initiatives, Ukraine is also supported by private Norwegian projects. As Defender previously reported, the local fund Gardar plans to raise €100m for investment in Ukrainian defence tech.
