What models of UGVs are used by the Ukrainian Ground Forces?

The Ukrainian Army Ground Forces have begun introducing a new military specialty – unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) operator. The decision follows the active combat use of UGVs by Ukrainian Army units in recent months, according to a video published on the official channel.

The use of UGVs has already become routine – from logistics to casualty evacuation and remote mining. One example is the evacuation of a seriously wounded soldier using a UGV by an operator from the K2 regiment. Despite severe injuries – including a leg amputation and an arm wound – the soldier survived.

Several types of UGVs are currently in use by Ukrainian Army units, including TerMIT, Ardal, Gnom-Miner, and Lyut. Some models are adapted for concealed mining, others for providing fire support with a machine gun, even without a stabiliser.

Operator training is open even to service personnel without a technical background. The main requirements are motivation, basic knowledge of using digital devices, and a willingness to work as part of a team.

It is also worth noting that Tretya Shturmova is launching its own training programme for future UGV operators. Earlier, it was reported that the Ukrainian ground robotics manufacturer Tencore had raised $3.7 million from MITS Capital.
