Engineers from the 13th Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine Khartiia have converted an American M113 armoured personnel carrier into an uncrewed platform. The vehicle is intended for mine clearance and logistics missions.
The brigade said the platform is controlled with a standard remote control unit that transmits commands to the onboard control system via a secure radio link. For vehicle control, the platform is equipped with video cameras that provide the operator with a real-time video feed.
The onboard electronics translate the operator’s commands into control of the engine, transmission, and steering systems. The system also includes an emergency stop function.
The operating principle, hardware configuration, and technical specifications of the remote control system have not been disclosed for security reasons.
