The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has allocated an additional UAH 10.84 billion to strengthening the state’s defence capabilities. The funds will be divided across two areas: armaments and the development of defence production.

Of the total amount, UAH 9.05 billion will go towards the purchase of new armaments and the modernisation and repair of military equipment. A further UAH 1.79 billion will be invested in Ukraine’s defence-industrial complex. The funds will be directed towards the introduction of cutting-edge technologies, the expansion of factory capacity and the reform of the sector.

The Ministry of Defence explains that the sum accumulated thanks to personal income taxes, as well as licensing fees from the gambling business and lotteries. The funds were accumulated under a special programme created in 2025 after the Ministry of Defence took over the functions of the liquidated Ministry of Strategic Industries.

It also emerged yesterday that the Ministry of Defence and the General Staff have allocated an additional UAH 5 billion for the procurement of modern middle-strike systems. The funds will go to the most effective brigades and units, the first of which have already begun direct purchases. The money is being allocated under the “Logistics lockdown” programme, through which the state aims to scale up strikes using mid-strikes.
