Defence Tech Comms Bootcamp to show Ukrainian defence companies how to break into Asian markets
Participants in the online intensive will learn about the defence ecosystems of Japan, Taiwan, South Korea and Singapore

From 7 to 11 December 2026, communications agency Calibrated and Tech PR School will run the online Defence Tech Comms Bootcamp: Asia Edition. The programme will help Ukrainian defence companies better understand Asian markets, identify potential partners and prepare for international cooperation. Defender Media is a media partner of the event.
The bootcamp will consist of five online sessions. Four will cover the defence innovation ecosystems of Japan, Taiwan, South Korea and Singapore, while the fifth will focus on intercultural and business communications.
Each country has its own defence procurement rules and distinct approaches to doing business and working with foreign partners. The intensive will focus on these differences.
What the programme includes
Participants will learn how Japanese, Taiwanese, South Korean, and Singaporean defence innovation ecosystems operate, who makes decisions across the public, military, and industrial sectors, and how defence procurement and innovation support programmes are structured. The programme will also explore industrial partnership opportunities, relevant events, platforms and communities for finding contacts.
Special attention will be paid to business culture, communication and building long-term partnerships.
The organisers have so far presented the programme for the first session: Navigating Japan’s Defence Tech Ecosystem: Partnerships, Procurement and Market Entry for Ukrainian Companies. It will be led by Takashi Kikuchi, Secretary General of the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce in Japan and the Japan–Ukraine Drone Cluster, and CEO of Shants Inc.
Yuliia Petryk, CEO and co-founder of Calibrated, will moderate the programme. Other speakers will be announced later.
Who the intensive is for
The programme is aimed at founders and executives of defence start-ups, specialists in business development and international partnerships, communications and marketing professionals, and representatives of defence clusters and innovation organisations.
Asian countries have well-developed technology and manufacturing ecosystems in electronics, robotics, communications, AI, aerospace technology and dual-use development. For Ukrainian defence companies, these markets can become a source of new manufacturing partnerships, components and specialised expertise.
