Swarmer to launch mobile air defence systems production in Poland for Erik Prince’s Vectus Air Defense Systems

US-Ukrainian company Swarmer has signed a memorandum of understanding with Vectus Air Defense Systems, a company founded by Blackwater founder Erik Prince. Vectus provides private air defence services to governments and critical infrastructure operators. Swarmer owns a 20% stake in Vectus.

Under the memorandum, Swarmer plans to launch production of integrated air defence systems that Vectus will procure and deploy. Swarmer’s production facility will be located in Poland, although the construction timeline and location have not yet been disclosed.

According to the memorandum, Vectus intends to procure and deploy at least 40 systems in the first year after production begins and 80 or more in the second. Final procurement volumes, prices, financing, technical specifications and delivery schedules are to be determined in separate agreements.

According to Swarmer U.S. CEO Alex Fink, each air defence system is expected to cost approximately $5–6 million. The systems are to include radars, cameras, a fire-control system and effectors capable of countering various aerial threats, including jet-powered Shahed-type strike drones. Based on these figures, potential contracts with Vectus could be worth approximately $600–720 million over the first three years after production begins.

As the last line of defence, Swarmer plans to use revolver-type cannons capable of firing 20mm ammunition at a rate of up to 6,000 rounds per minute.
